I have been reading through this book for a few months now, and i can say that my guitar playing has improved quite a bit. I’ve been playing for well over 10 years mostly self taught. I’ve tried to look at a few books but none really helped me learn the notes or chords as much as i wanted to. But after reviewing this i can now easily figure out my notes and placements on the fretboard. thanks for the great book man!

5 Stars Exceeded Expectations
I have been trying (without success) for years to “memorize” the fretboard. In my opinion, the BEAD method is by far the best and simplest system that I know of to acquaint a guitarist with ALL of the notes on the guitar. I am now not just memorizing but finally UNDERSTANDING the layout of the fretboard. Highly recommend for guitar enthusiasts of every skill level.

I have completed the first free acoustic guitar lesson! Yes, me, who never, ever “gets around to it”.

My life is a graveyard of plans and ideas that I’m “getting around to”. Things like growing my own vegetables; seeing Stonehenge, the Pyramids and the Colossus of Rhodes; booking an aromatherapy session and going for a horse-ride, to name just a few.

That’s when I’ve finished all my work, cleaned the house, weeded the garden, shopped, cooked numerous meals and seen some clients, so that we have enough money to keep the wolf from the door…

No extra time was forthcoming, so I made time. Boy, was it scary! At first, the guitar lesson felt like a waste of time (terrible crime in my book!), and I felt really guilty, sneaking off into the spare room like a felon when there was Work To Be Done. But then, when isn’t there? So I refused to feel guilty any more, and actually began to enjoy it. By the end of the lesson, I could play a chord. The A Major chord. And it didn’t sound like someone was strangling the cat, either!

I was proud of myself; it really did my ego good. You should try it! So, flushed with my success, I downloaded Lesson 2 – Learning to tune the guitar.

This took a bit more reading through to get the idea, but it was clear and quite easy to understand. Tuning your guitar is absolutely essential if your playing is to sound any good. The idea here is to tune each string from the one above it, so you don’t need a tuning device – a very clever idea.

I have to say, I needed a bit more time to get this lesson right, but the guitar sounded okay when I’d finished. But then, as you know, I’m certainly no expert – a professional guitarist would probably have shot himself at the thought of tuning a guitar this way.

I just want to be able to play a nice tune to sing along to. I couldn’t ever be a professional guitarist.

Learning To Play The Guitar – Lesson Two is a post from: Learn The Acoustic Guitar

Have you ever wished you could play guitar? Heard a track played by one of the greats, such as Eric Clapton, and longed to have just a little of that magic at your fingertips? Well, you’re not alone. When asked for a skills “wish list”, around half of the people I questioned wished they had learnt to play the guitar. When I asked them what was stopping them, their answers included not having time, being unable to read music and getting too old to learn.

I had news for them.

If you want something, you make time. Anybody can learn to read guitar notation with the method I’m going to tell you about. And you’re never, never too old! If I can learn to play acoustic guitar aged 46, left-handed and unable to read music, then so can you!

When I was younger, I really wanted to be a guitar player. I scraped together enough money to buy my first guitar and spent hours (when I should have been studying) trying to pick out a tune. I actually managed to teach myself to pick out “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and was thrilled to bits with myself.
But then one night I took my precious guitar to a party, and a big ox of a guy managed to step on it by mistake. He did his party trick of jumping off the table – and put his foot right through it!

I wasn’t pleased, and told him so – in no uncertain terms.

That was 20 years ago and I’m still married to him. And no, I’ve never quite forgiven him!

But I was quite surprised when – on our 20th anniversary – he presented me with a new acoustic guitar and this amazing product to teach me how to play it.

It’s called Jamorama – and if it can teach me, it can teach anybody.

Aww..How cute is that – he’d never forgotten.
